MNF- Quick Thoughts Week 2

Capture of Eli Manning in a public service ann...

Looking Dumbfounded as Usual!

What to look for this week fantasy wise:

Giants:

Eli will be better , plain and simple

Gilbride will call more running plays , upping Bradshaws’s value in this game

Nicks is playing , and if he is playing I expect him to be close enough to full speed – Big Game

Manningham – much bigger game then last week – I Expect them to move it vs the Rams and use Play Action to set up Manningham.

Tuck – is in , but the Giants pass defense is still ravaged by injuries.

Sleeper : Hixon – He complained this week , and in life the Squeaky Wheel gets the grease.

Rams:

Sjax is out

Bradford will be better and the WRs will drop less balls

Caddy will not have as much running room this game as last week – but could be decent in the catch game

Kendricks to be involved much more – should up his stock this week

Gibson = the most average WR I’ve ever seen , average is good enough for 10 points in game that could be higher scoring

Mike Sims Walker – One of the most enigmatic WRs of all time , often times follows 0 pt games wtih 30 point games ,

I think he will surprise people tonight because he is PrimaDonnish enough to get his act together for the Nat Tv audience.

Sleeper: Salas – Filling in for Amendola at the slot , could get some decent work tonight if Tuck can help get a nice pass rush on Bradford.

Prediction: Giants 27 – Rams 24

Out and Up: Week 2 Waivers

Chris Cooley was drafted in the third round of...

Cut the guy!

Tuesday is waiver days for most everyone in all fantasy football leagues. So every Tuesday I will release a new article detailing who I would throw out (cut) and who I would pick up (claim). None of this is set in stone , and every league and team should be treated differently. I am not saying to give up on all of these players , but what I am saying is if you needed to make room for another more promising and younger prospect , well it is safe to say goodbye to a player you may have loved previously. Do NOT make the mistake of holding on to an aging under performing player , there are ALWAYS early warning signs , read them and adjust. It could mean the difference between 6th place and a championship.

Out and Up : Week 2 waivers

QB

PICK UP

Henne– Looked real good , but the Pats looked bad again on defense. Keep your hopes realistic , but Henne just became a nice matchup play.

Newton – This is a testament to how bad the AZ defense is. Newton just had his best game of the season , but he does have a top WR that he has shown early connection with and that counts for something. There are a lot of QBs out there, but if you want to take a chance on Cam , I can not say it’s a bad move.

THROW OUT

watch us grow as an outlet covering more than just football , great “Off the Gridiron” article Dats!

It's Not Always About You Floyd These are Floyd Mayweather tweets on his twitter account after the 2nd episode of 24/7 for his fight vs Victor Ortiz. “I was very unhappy with the second episode of 24/7. HBO needs a new editor. The network does not show the real entertainment.” “HBO needs to give the viewers what they deserve because 24/7 is a highly anticipated show and I don’t want to disappoint the viewers.” “Oscar De la Hoya is trying to stay relevant by admitting to his vic … Read More

Horne’s Corner with musings about the AFC South

Being that we are only two weeks away from the kickoff of the regular season, most fantasy football drafts around this time seem to have fewer surprises. Just about all holdouts are usually over by now while we usually have a good idea of the impact injuries are going to have on at least the early part of the regular season. However, much like how New Jersey is not supposed to be on the receiving end of an earthquake and a hurricane within the sa … Read More

Fantasy Stocks: Who to Buy Low (via DatsHeadlam)

DatsHeadlam hitting us with a who to target at good values for the rest of your summer drafts!

Fantasy Stocks: Who to Buy Low Phillip Rivers (Chargers) – I know I know Rivers is ranked #5 among QBs in Fantasy Football and that’s pretty high. Well I am here to tell you that this is really low! I believe Rivers should be higher. I don’t care what Aaron Rodgers did in the postseason, Rivers had a better year in the regular season. Rivers had more TDs and Pass Yards. Top that off with pla … Read More

“He is the most popular – or infamous – commissioner in sports right now, you know? Maybe that’s what he wanted to be. We know he doesn’t work for us, he doesn’t work with us.” Those were the words of Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in an AP article earlier this month. Goodell has been known for for fining players for a lot of things on field and off field during his tenure as Commissioner however this tim … Read More

Live Expert Draft Review 8/15/11

iCon was invited to do an experts draft with the top, elite , upper echelon players that reside over at fantasy games money site Rtsports.com. All of the top 15 were invited on a first come first serve basis and all of these players are friends of mine and have been for quite some time. This draft was put together by the Lead Sports writer for their website , Jeff Paur and we are playing for free entry into their one of their ALL PRO leagues next football season.

This is the BEST collection of skilled and competitive money league players that I have yet to see assembled  in all my years playing this game. Each player here wins thousands per year in this hobby, so I thought this would be the perfect time to run the next analysis of my live drafting and draft reviews followed by rating teams at the end.

Understand something right now , every single guy in this league has hundreds of fantasy titles under their belts so finding the bad values in each round may be a daunting task in and of itself because almost every pick will be the right one as each and every guy in here is a champion.

As usual I will analyze just the first 5 rounds for best and worst values , followed by a quick analysis of each team and a rating on a scale of 1-10. The first 5 rounds will NOT win you your league completely but they will provide the backbone and foundation for your team and will dictate how your middle rounds should go.

There will be no better tool if you want to see the true value of each and every player going forward in all competitive PPR drafts for the rest of this summer.

NOW LETS GO LIVE TO THE DRAFT ROOM

Round 1

#1  John’s Team   –   Jamaal Charles  RB, KAN

#2  Pearl Jam Randy   –   Arian Foster  RB, HOU

#3  icon   –   Ray Rice  RB, BAL

#4  Nuts for Henery   –   Adrian Peterson  RB, MIN

#5  Jeff P’s Team   –   Chris Johnson  RB, TEN

#6  The Calipari Way Will   –   Michael Vick  QB, PHI

#7  Romeo’s Team   –   LeSean McCoy  RB, PHI

#8  Brian’s Team   –   Darren McFadden  RB, OAK

#9  JW – Bull Rush   –   Andre Johnson  WR, HOU

#10  Midget Monkeys   –   Rashard Mendenhall  RB, PIT

#11  The Calipari Way-Logan   –   Calvin Johnson  WR, DET

#12  Azzurri   –   Roddy White  WR, ATL

Best value: Adrian Peterson – iCon has him as #1 on the ranking list as the best combo of safety and upside he fell to 5th here and thats as good a spot as you will see him – iCon passed on him to take Rice , simply because I do not own rice enough this year.

Worst value: None , everyone went in a comparable spot and belongs here. Could be CJ2k if he never shows

Analysis: Nothing to see here , this is exactly what I would expect , Vick at 6 was a surprise but I can’t arguewith the pick at all , like the Mendy and Calvin picks at the end and White is rock solid.

Sleeping Giants- QB’s and WR’s (via Ryan Horne and Horne’ Corner – iCon Sports)

Horne’s Corner is CHURNING out articles left and right , keep up the good work!

After spending time telling you what players you shouldn’t draft, now its time for me to find you some players that may not be on your radar. There are a couple of main factors that make a good sleeper, but there is no factor more important than a player’s situation in my opinion. Things like new offensive coordinators, new teams and new roles are all factors that play into a player’s situation and carefully studying those things will help find t … Read More
