The Holy Grail- Week 7 RBs

2 Montario Hardesty

time for Montario to play like he did in college

Teams on bye week: Bills, Bengals, Patriots, Giants, Eagles, 49ers

MUST START

1 Rice @Jax  He is the premier NFL fantasy PPR back. In weeks he doesn’t score he still gets 20 because of his work in the pass game. Jacksonville is a bad defense that was propped up by an easy schedule and Mendenhall dominated them last week. Rice is the safest play to give you a huge game with a high ceiling and a safe floor.

2 Mcfadden vs KC – He got it going early last week and was a broken tackle or two away from some other big gainers. Campbell getting hurt early sapped some life out of the offense even though Boller did a respectable job filling in. Carson Palmer should be above average there and keep defenses from loading up on DMC, not that it would matter as his talent usually wins out.

3 Foster @Tenn – Tennessee has only given up 1 td on the ground this year , but gives up over a 100 rushing yards a week. Foster has only scored 1 TD this year and will finish the season with 10 plus rushing TD’s. Something has a chance to give this week for both teams giving Foster some really big upside.

4 Forte @TB – Describing him in one word – Consistent. He does it all for that offense and has exceeded most everyone’s expectations coming into this season. TB defense is very vulnerable and Forte is a PPR pass catching beast which gives him the nod over more explosive runners like AP.

5 AP vs GB – Ponder starting can’t be worse than Mcnabb. He always offers huge game potential and is the most talented runner in the NFL. Why write too much about a guy who is going to start every week in any format on every fantasy team, so let’s move on.

Chris Johnson vs Hou – Houston giving up 4.6 YPC and 6 rushing TDs so far. If CJ doesn’t go big here you may be looking at the beginning of the decline of a back that lit up the NFL just two short seasons ago. I think he performs good this week.

Turner @ Detroit – A 3 TD candidate going into every week. Doesn’t catch passes , but his TD potential is enough to make him a must start during a big Bye week.

Mendenhall vs AZ – After last week it is safe to say Mendenhall is ready to be what I thought he would be this year. A lock for 100 and at least 1TD a week. Arizona has given up 8 ground TDs this year  , yea that’s bad and that makes him a must start.

The Holy Grail – Week 6 TEs

Dallas Clark

Sorry For Your Early Retirement!

Teams on bye week: Broncos, Titans, Chiefs, Cardinals, Chargers, Seahawks

MUST START

1 Finley vs Stl – He is equally as talented , or even more so than any other TE in fantasy and out of all of them he is due for the biggest game.

2 Graham @TB – Brees clearly loves him and he is producing with volume targets and receptions.

3 Witten @NE – There are going to be a lot of mouths to feed there this week , but due to the sheer nature and scoring potential of the game this week , he is a top of the line start.

A. Hernandez vs Dal – He is another week removed from his knee ailment and was targetted heavily last week. He dropped a sure TD pass which no doubt was the result of some rust from not playing for a few weeks. The rust will be shaken and he will take another step toward regaining his early dominant form.

Vernon Davis @ Det – They are going to need to pass in order to win against Detroit. Davis has been on the come up since his meeting with Harbaugh. If he ever played with an elite QB this guy would be the #1 Te every year.

6 Gronk vs Dal – He scores this week after two weeks of not finding the endzone.

The Holy Grail – Week 6 QBs

Washington Redskins vs. New Orleans Saints at ...

Can't Stop This Guy!

Teams on bye week: Broncos, Titans, Chiefs, Cardinals, Chargers, Seahawks

MUST START

1 Rodgers vs STL – St Louis has limited yards this year , but has already given up 8 TD tosses and that was factoring in a week when they didn’t even play. Rodgers throws for a minimium of 3 TDs this week with potential for huge yardage.

2 Brady vs Dal – Brady has been held in check for two straight weeks but this will not be the case in what could be the biggest scoring game of the week.

3 Brees @TB – TB is in the bottom third of the league in pass defense and we saw what the Niners did to that defense last week. Brees can’t be stopped by a good defense let alone a defense that routinely gets burned deep.

4 Romo @NE – The worst pass defense in the NFL meets one of the most dynamic receiving corps in the league plus a stat hog QB. Cowboys will have no problem moving the ball in big chunks this weekend.

5 Vick @ Wash – Washington has been at the top of the league in pass defense this year , but Vick is not like most QBs. With their backs against the wall I simply can not envision a scenario that doesn’t end with a huge Vick day.

6 Stafford vs SF – Stafford was held in check last week , but that was something to expect since he was on too ridiculous of a pace. That being said he is at home against a defense that has been playing well , but they will still have no chance to stop that pass offense. Best should be held in check which means Detroit will have to throw it to win.

7 Cam Newton @Atl – the Falcons defense has been a huge disappointment this year giving up huge yardage numbers and creating no pressure or turnovers. The Panthers offense is clearly on the come up with Cam Newton, who is just a monster right now. Keep in mind thought that the early season passing yard numbers by Cam were flukey and he really bumps his points by running for TDs , which is killing Stewart’s fantasy value. The guy is a must start already though , and that is impressive.

The Holy Grail – Week 6 WR’s

New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker ...

Sorry for doubting You Wes!

Teams on Bye : Broncos, Titans, Chiefs, Cardinals, Chargers, Seahawks

MUST START

1 Calvin vs SF – Not even going to say a word. I am just going to smile because he is the one player I own the most in 50 fantasy leagues.

2 Welker vs Dal – Not even going to say a word. I am just going to frown because he is the one player I do not own once in 50 fantasy leagues.

3 Nicks vs Buf – He is a TD freak and the Bills secondary is very burnable.

4 White vs Car – Julio Jones will either be out or ineffective and the Panthers are only in the middle of the pack in pass defense.

5 Mike Wallace  vs Jax – At home , Ben had a 5td game last week and he is unguardable by any defense, let alone a defense that is purely the product of an easy schedule so far.

6 Jennings vs STL – At home against a bad defense. It’s just that simple.

7 Steve Smith @Atl – Falcons have a lot of holes on defense and have been a pure disappointment on both sides of the ball right so far. Smith on the other hand has not.

8 Dez Bryant vs NE – Worst pass defense in the NFL meets a top 5 and healthy passing offense in the NFL. It’s gonna be a big scoring game so you start all your Cowboys and Pats this week.

9 Miles Austin vs NE – He is back and Romo clearly will look his way. Dez should be healthy and they both will get their fill against a horrible secondary.

The Holy Grail – Week 6 RB’s

Fred Jackson of the Buffalo Bills

SOMEONE TACKLE THIS GUY!

BYE WEEKS: DEN , TEN , KC, AZ, SD, SEA

MUST START

1 Mcfadden vs Cle – Most are putting AP in this spot , but I feel like Mcfadden is a breakout week waiting to happen. He has been held without a TD for two weeks and is going against a defense that is 25th in the NFL in total rushing yards allowed. BTW the 4 Rbs Cleveland has faced: Benson , Addai , D. Thomas and Cj2k  and Mcfadden is better than all of them.

2 AP @Chi – We saw what Best did to them last week and they are slow to the ball as they lack overall team speed. Watching AP run is just ridiculous , even he doesn’t know where he is going sometimes. Expect another monster day.

3 Rice vs Hou – Houston loses Mario Williams which really hurts a defense that is playing above its paygrade right now. Rice is going to be impossible to stop at home off a bye week against a defense that will have no answer for him. PS Houston gives up 4.8 YPC and that was  before the Williams injury.

4 Mccoy @Wash – He is impossible to guard in that offense , but Washington is a very good tackling team. His dual threat ability ultimately wins out every week and I think Vick will be energized in this game. We all know what happens to NFL talent once their back is against the wall.

5 Foster @ Bal – He can run against anyone even a team giving up next to nothing on the ground. Regardless of where I put him he is still a must start for the simple fact he is going to get 30 touches weeklyand has multiple TD potential.

6 Forte vs Min – Earth to Matt Forte, you can not keep up these rushing numbers.. can you? The guy looks great , and is a lock for touches  , catches and yards. If they ever get  the O Line to block anyone he could be even better.

7 Gore @Det – Detroit giving up almost 5 yards per carry , Gore looks back in form , Alex Smith actually looks ok , and Vernon Davis is beasting right now. In Harbaugh I trusted before the season , keep it going Niners!

8 Fred Jackson @ NYG – He is playing above his skillset , and it is pissing me the hell off. Someone tackle this guy , he is not all that fast , not terribly shifty doesn’t posessess bulldozer power , but yet he just gets yard after yard and falls forward. This offense is perfect for him and he killed me last week on fanduel as the lemmings are flocking to this flavor of the month.

Ranks and Thoughts – Week 4 TE’s

A picture of Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis...

Image via Wikipedia

MUST STARTS

1 Finley vs Denver – Sorry Gronk! But Finley right now is the TE to own in 2011.

2 Gronkowski vs Oak – He will be featured heavily again , but he will also not be able to keep up his barrage of TDs all season , or can he?

Graham vs Jax – Away against a surprisingly good pass defense, Colston may be back, but Graham is coming into his own , very solid , safe TE to own right now.

Witten vs Det – The Romo injury is sapping some of the life out of that offense. He will need to be on track this week or the Lions might run away with this one

Vernon Davis vs Philly – The LBs are bad there , flat out terrible , Their secondary won’t be able to cover him and 6-8 catches a week since his sit down with Harbaugh seems legit.

The Holy Grail: Week 4 QBs

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsbur...

Big Week Comin!

MUST STARTS

1 Brady vs Oak – He is who he is and he could throw 5 ints this week and still score 30, never sit him.

2 Rodgers vs Denver – 400 and 4tds is a distinct possibility this week , gotta feel good about having him in your lineup.

3 Brees vs Jax – Jax has been surprisingly good ,but Brees has been unsurprisingly amazing.

4 Stafford vs Dallas – Dallas run D has been good so far. There pass D will get better and Ware could cause some problems. None of this matters as a healthy Stafford has become an elite QB already.

5 Rivers vs Mia – He is at home , he made me look bad last week , but if you drafted him you are starting him , especially in this matchup. Some injuries to their key offensive players is a bit worrisome.

6 Roethlisberger vs Hou- Expecting a big game from him this week and gets a nice bump up from his usual spot in my weekly rankings.

MNF Quick Thoughts- Week 3

Tony Romo (en) at a Dallas Cowboys (en) preseason.

Image via Wikipedia

What to look for in tonights game.

Let’s break down each teams key players and get some sleepers out there.

Was on the money last MNF calling Hixon a sleeper and he made a spectacular TD catch. Also called the Giants win and Eli stepping his game up.

Even gave you this nugget ” Mike Sims Walker is enough of a primadonna that he will bring his A game for a national tv audience” Sure enough MSW delivered which made me look REAL GOOD!

On to tonights game:

Dallas Cowboys:

Romo – will play and play fine , he showed last week that he has a high pain tolerance and he will need it as rib injuries are VERY painful – 275 yards 2 tds

Dez – Expected to play a monumental role on the Dallas passing game regardless of the injury. Was very aggressive about his treatment this week as he no doubt realizes on  a national stage with Austin out he could grab some league wide headlines with a great performance.

FEARLESS FORECAST: 7 112 1td

Witten – Looks great so far and Romo obviously has great chemistry , with Felix playing but being nicked up , Witten will be the safety valve he always has been. Not much in the passing game right now so something like  6 for 75 1 td  is where I see his stat line ending up.

Felix – I would avoid him , I have discussed a few times how I do NOT think he is a top end fantasy player and he proved that to me last week. He scored a td week 1 but that will be the abberration NOT the rule.

SLEEPER:

Ogletree – Everyone is all over this guy Holley. Why? Because he caught a long bomb in OT to help beat the niners? REALLY? That one catch is the reason Holley became a potential matchup play? NOT A CHANCE!Ogletree is actually a pretty good WR , and with Austin out , he is my pick to surprise this week as Romo and him have created some decent chemistry.

REDSKINS:

Rex – Love the matchup , he is stupid enough to honestly believe he is a better QB then Romo and maybe tonight he will perform that way. I think they need 300 and 3 tds from him in order to win this game , 250 and 2 more like it , but the upside and potential is there for a very nice game , start him confidently , he will score.

Hightower – Nice back so far , I think his value will decrease as the season goes along , Helu will start to vulture touches but is a good enough runner in this system that he will be worth a start each week regardless of matchup. The cowboys have been GREAT against the run in the first two weeks and will give Timmy some trouble , but he should produce low end rb2 numbers.

Helu – 15 touches a week seems probable , needs to be owned by EVERYONE that owns Hightower , if one back was going to burn the boys tonight it would be him. I love adding youth to my fantasy teams.

Moss – Burns the cowboys , should have a great game on a big stage , long underrated , but always producing.

Fred Davis -I have loved this guy FOREVER! Been pimping him in my rankings as a sleeper and someone to own well BEFORE he broke out in week 1. My readers know this. I will say Cooley is NOT fully done yet and will get healthier soon , but Davis is the TE to own there. 5 for 60 is where I see his stat line ending.

SLEEPER

Gaffney – Another underrated guy , his problem is the fact he has no substantial upside. But he is consistent enough and the Dallas secondary is bad enough that starting him is a safe bet for 4-6 catches and some low end flex points.

Everyone is picking the skins to win, I think Dallas wins this game:

Dallas 27  Skins 21

win BIG money playing FANTASY sports!

The Holy Grail- Week 3 WRs

Vincent Jackson, a player with the San Diego C...

Image via Wikipedia

Leading you to the promised land each week.

Very important week for the WRs . The position is shaping up so get your research swag going and win yourself a game this week!

MUST STARTS

1 AJ @NO – You don’t bench him , should be the number 1 PPR WR each week regardless of matchup

2 Calvin @Min- see Andre Johnson , then add 1A PPR WR each week

3 Vincent Jacksonvs KC – Gates out , Floyd hurt , Jackson , Mathews and Tolbert will all be busy in the passing game -KC stinks

4 Roddy White @Tb – Big week a coming… ohhhhhhhh a big week is a coming – one of these weeks anyway , maybe this one.

5 Mike Wallace @Ind – This guy is a flat out monster right now – must start each week , fast , slick , wirey..lots of adjectives and a whole lot of superlatives.

6 Larry Fitz @Sea – You’re welcome for last weeks call when some writers jumped ship , lower expectation in SEA though only because of the whole ebbs and flows thing , unguardable.

7 Britt  vs Den – This guy is legit , Hasselbeck has been a boom for his fantasy value , he is ONLY 22 years old. WOW

8 Steve Smith vs Jax – Makes me puke in my mouth , but I do feel good for the guy because  he really deserved an actual QB after almost a decade of that slop they were throwing out there. – Yes he became a must start already

The Holy Grail – Week 3 RBs

Leading you to the promised land each week

MUST START

1 Rice vs STL – Great matchup and in PPR there is no better start.

2 AP vs Det – Any week he can score 4 tds. Him and Harvin are about all they have on that offense , should be great again this week.

3 Chris Johnson vs Den – Out on a limb , I think he puts it all together against a very beatable defense thats giving up 4.4 yards per carry

4 MJD vs Car – Looked half way decent there so far. Getting a lot of work which was never the issue with him , the issue is the bad offense and him wearing down. Carolina giving up 4.8 YPC as well.

5 Gore vs Cin – Cincy has done a very nice job vs the rush thus far and Gore has been bottled up in both games. Market correction coming as neither is indicative of what to expect going further , flood gates could be open for Gore in this game. —> BiG WEEK??!

6 Forte vs GB – GB has been stout against the rush thus far , but Forte will get his touches , and is a complete MONSTER in the catch game, better then ever in that facet this year.

7 Mccoy vs NYG – He beat them last year on a flukey touchdown. Giants were bottling him up all game until then , he will be wicked in the pass game this week , but I think he may find some tough running against the GMEN.

8 Mendenhall vs Ind – Great matchup , they won’t stop him , you won’t bench him anyway.

9 Mcfadden vs NYJ – Unstoppable force meets immovable object. Don’t expect him to pile up 150 yards , but should have a nice week as he not only gets volume touches but also is one of the most dynamic runners in the NFL right now.
